P.P. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti’s Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies and Research is located in a sprawling 23 acres campus in the heart of orange city Nagpur. The present campus is housed in two buildings spread across 10,000 square meters, equipped with most modern equipment, laboratories, and teaching aids. The campus has a separate state-of-the art auditorium, playfields, gymnasium, lawns, cafeterias, and guest house to provide for the most convenient and amiable environment for teaching and learning. The training facilities include a fully Wi-Fi campus, with five computer laboratories, seminar halls, auditoriums, ITenabled classrooms, studio type air-conditioned training halls, digital libraries, group work areas, and reading rooms.

The institution was established in the year 1987, as the department of Management of Dr. Ambedkar College, Nagpur, which was separated into a standalone institution in the year 2002. In its 36 years of existence, the institute has grown from a humble beginning of 60 MBA seats to the present intake capacity of over 1000 seats offering B.B.A, B.Com. (Computer Application), M.C.M, M.B.A. and Ph.D. programmes. All its programmes are granted permanent affiliation to RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur. The institute has its MBA programme approved by AICTE and recognised by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra. The institute is a permanent non-grant institution which is fully self-financed. The institute is included in list of colleges under Section 2(f), and Section 12(B) of UGC.

The students of the institute have produced high academic performance and all its programmes have consistently produced university merit rank holders and have occupied majority of merit positions. The students have also participated and excelled in University, State, National as well as International level sports and cultural fests. Over the years, the institution has build up collaboration with a host of industries, institutions, research organizations, NGOs, and corporate houses. The institute regularly contributes to the industry through consultancy and management development programmes. The faculty members regularly present their research in institutions of repute. The research work produced by the faculty members finds place in globally high ranking research journals indexed in Scopus, WoS and ABDC.
